Fund Forum and Social Initiatives Support Fund announce the start of the Second Round of Grant Program to Support Socially Significant Projects of Regional NGOs of Uzbekistan. Deadline: September 15, 2011.
The Program seeks to discover social projects initiated by regional NGOs in Uzbekistan and provide financial support in implementing them. The Program is open to registered regional NGOs working in healthcare, education, infrastructure, ecology, conservation and development of national cultural values and traditions and other areas of social significance.
The application must include the following sections:
On April 27, “In the Name of Life” charitable marathon to be held in Tashkent will include a charitable marathon titled “Join Us!” aimed at supporting inclusive education in Uzbekistan, raise public awareness about children with disabilities, and create equal education opportunities.
The marathons will be organized by the Fund Forum, the SISF, Special Olympics Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan and the World Bank Country Office in Uzbekistan.
The Social Initiatives Support Fund has been granted Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council. The ECOSOC Committee on NGOs, at its February 9 session, came up with a recommendation that the Fund be granted the status.
Other entities that were awarded the status along with the SISF on February 9 include Agewell Foundation, Association pour le développement durable, Instituto para la Participation y el Desarrollo INPADE – Asociation Civil, Univers de Solidarité et de développement, Women Watch Africa, Muhammadiyah Association, Rufaida Health Foundation (RHF), Terra-1530, OceanCare, and United Help for International Children.
SISF in frames of the President's degree № 1144 dated by July 1, 2009 "On the strengthening of reproductive health, a healthy child birth and strengthening the work on creation a physically and spiritually mature generation in the 2009-2013" in partnership with NGO "Kelajak Nuri" held a conference in Namangan in conclusion of the SISF project "Healthy mother - healthy child" in 2009 in Namangan region. The conference was attended by representatives of local administration, NGOs and medical institutions.
SISF conducted meeting with Sholpan Makhmudova and Nilufar Rahmanova, Projects Management Specialists, Department of healthcare and education of USAID, Central Asia and Uzbekistan. During the meeting SISF`s healthcare projects, particularly "Healthy youth" project, were discussed, as well as possibility of joint initiatives for the period of 2010-2015 in frames of USAID funded "HOP - Health Outreach Project".

SISF conducted meeting with representatives of NDI. Issues on organization of study tour for the group of most successful women farmers, participants of project «Provision of microcredits for women farmers» to foreign country for exchange of experience were discussed during the meeting.
SISF conducted meeting with representatives of Tetra Pak Company (Sweden) headed by Mr. Kestas Sliuzas, marketing Vice-president. Issues on future cooperation in frames of projects "Provision of micro credits for women farmers", "Healthy mother - healthy child", "Healthy youth" and "Design and introduction of National model of ongoing inclusive education in Uzbekistan" were discussed during the meeting.

In frame of the project «Support of Women Farmers» SISF designed «Success Story of 2007-2009» in which it is told about the most successful women farmers, participants of the project from the Andizhan, Bukhara, Dzhizzak, Namangan, Navoi, Samarkand and Fergana regions.
During three years of the project 678 women farmers created more than 2500 new jobs, more than 2.000.000.000 sum total volume of micro credits was proceeded. Types of activities as following: the farming, cattle-breeding, production (dairy, meat, agricultural, woolen and leather products), outer clothing tailoring, the organization of the educational centers, workmanship development.
Project partners are "Mikrokreditbank", Halk Bank, DVV International (Germany), MFC (Poland), NDI (USA), AgLinks Project/USAID (USA), Credit Unions "ASR", "Tayanch", "Mador", "Sherdor", "Umid", "Ishonch", "Lastochka", Association of auditors and accountants of Uzbekistan.
