Trough supporting of SISF 70 young low-income families improved their socio-economic conditions in 2007. As many as 70 young low-income families will get an opportunity to improve their living conditions in 2008.
Social Initiatives Support Fund positions itself as an organization, which consolidate efforts of NGOs of Uzbekistan for improving the quality of life of citizens, who need social support.
According to this, SISF implements social programs, which are funded by domestic and international donors. Programs and projects are funded in the form of regional and national level grants within the main areas of the SISF’s activity – healthcare, education, social infrastructure, social support and environment.
“Support of Young Low-income Families” project, started in 2007, continues in 2008, which is defined by the government as “the Year of Youth”. The objective of the Fund within this project is provision of opportunity for low-income young families to improve their socio-economic conditions and quality of life.
Geographic area for implementing this project is wide. The project is being implemented in Karakalpakstan, Kashkadarya, Samarkand, Bukhara, Andijan, Ferghana and Tashkent regions.
In 2007 SISF in partnership with the Republic Fund “Makhalla” selected beneficiaries of the project - 70 young low-income families. At that time SISF supported them by provision of home appliances and TV sets. In the framework of today’s project as many as 70 young low-income families will improve not only housing conditions but also living conditions – as they will start building of new houses, renovate old houses or purchase new apartments.
For implementing this project there were attracted Ipoteka Bank and Microcredit Bank or partnership in funding. 21 young families will obtain mortgage credits at 14% APR through Ipoteka Bank. SISF will grant furniture and home appliances for additional 10 families. While Republic Fund “Makhalla” will also provide own input in support of young families.
Other 40 families will obtain consumer credits of Microcredit Bank. This Bank has offered low percent annual payoffs on credits for young families.
