Goals and objectives:
The goal of the Nongovernmental Noncommercial Organization Social Initiatives Support Fund (SISF) is to consolidate efforts of Civil Society active members of the Republic of Uzbekistan for improvement life quality of citizens` that need social support. Main objectives of the SISF are as follows:
- Development and implementation of national social programs in cooperation with partners;
- Fundraising from local and international donors for implementation of social programs and projects;
- Funding social programs and projects in the form of grants;
- Establishing sustainable partnership relations with local NGOs in regions and international organizations accredited in Uzbekistan as well.
Date of creation
The idea of Social Initiatives Support Fund creation has been announced for the first time at the Forum devoted to charity issues and social initiatives. The Forum was held in March 2006 in Tashkent and gathered more than 100 delegates from all the regions of Uzbekistan. This idea has been supported unanimously by the Forum participants that included NGO representatives from Uzbekistan, representatives of society and international organizations working in Uzbekistan and practically all of them expressed their commitment to participate in creation and further activity of the Social Initiatives Support Fund. Official presentation of the SISF has been performed at the Forum "NGOs in establishing and developing of social dialogue" held in October 2006.
Areas of activity
Main areas of Fund`s activity are as follows:
- Healthcare;
- Education;
- Social support;
- Social infrastructure;
- Environment.
Fund`s activity is transparent and targeted. Public organizations from all the regions of Uzbekistan guided in their activity by such concepts as "direct targeted social support of community", "improvement of social infrastructure", "charity and mercy", "access to quality education and medicine", "improvement of environment", "culture of charity activity" have been aligned with us. These concepts are the main basis of our activity. Currently we have prepared several projects in all five areas of the Social Initiatives Support Fund activity for nation-wide implementation. For example, project for healthcare education of women of the reproductive age and children from Fergana Valley regarding anemia and endemic goiter, sanitary and hygiene issues. Projects for creation of kindergartens and schools with mixed groups for inclusive education in the six regions of Uzbekistan are being developed as well.Regarding social support it is planned to implement a project of micro credit provision for women farmers in the seven regions of Uzbekistan. Within the frame of social infrastructure program it is planned to build a water pipe-line for inhabitants in one of the villages in Karakalpakstan. These are only first stages of our Fund`s activity, which will be further developing and involving more and more interested organizations.
